With the change of seasons, I always get that itchy feeling to switch up something in the home to make it feel like I’m ready to embrace the new season and all it has to throw at me. From winter to spring it’s all about the spring clean, spring to summer I get all al-fresco, whilst summer to autumn for me is about adding some nesting touches and muting the tones around the home to be more reflective of the shorter days and chillier temperatures. You don’t have to throw the mortgage at it, in just a few steps you can easily change the feel of a room or living space, so here are 4 ways to embrace Autumn into your home.

First up I change my lighter summer throws for thicker chunkier knits and furs to snuggle under when the nights start drawing in. Cotton mix blankets get retired in favour of more luxurious cashmere and faux furs.

Next, my flower choices tend to veer towards succulents and autumnal hues. I pepper small pots of succulents around the house to perk up dark corners and invest in vast swathes of hydrangeas which last forever in the cooler months.

In the kitchen, my Pantone bright mugs are replaced with warmer more earthy hued ceramic choices like these gorgeous Libby Ballard pieces we spied in our lovely local &Hobbs village store this weekend.

Introducing a new seasonal fragrance to the home is also a great way to switch up the mood of your interiors. Try a new candle aroma, diffuser or a room mist. I totally love the geranium notes from these room mists and hand soaps from &Hobbs.

Some of the best places I head to when seeking inspo for some new season decor are my local independent stores. They are normally beautifully curated spaces with plenty of local makers and craftspeople being represented. I’m lucky enough to have the amazing &Hobbs in my neighbourhood… but you can also catch some of my other local favourite emporiums in this earlier post I did on shopping local.

This weekend we also headed to a really entertaining cocktail workshop in &Hobbs with Tattam’s Bar – here’s the blog post on all the lovely cocktails we learnt how to make.

I’ve added this post to the lovely Catherine ‘Not Dressed as Lamb’ Saturday Share Linkup – pop over there for some great weekend reads.
