Baukjen… what’s the story?
If you’ve spotted the odd celeb sporting a Buakjen number of late – yes, you Alexa Chung at Glasto, and Cara, on her jetset summer globe trot – it may not have escaped your notice, that this uber cool brand is actually punting out wearable (with a capital W) garments.
How often have you tugged on some designer piece or other only to find that it doesn’t quite fit your normal body shape, the way it fits that runway model? I’ve wasted tons on designer duds over the years, imagining that just by stepping into the attire my body will magically transform into that of a 6foot size 0 chick.
But hey, having hit the age of enlightenment, I figured it was time to start looking out for brands which are both easy to wear, but also still have that element of style which I crave. Step forward Baukjen, a re-branding of the Isabella Oliver design team, who originally set about making maternity wear slightly more sartorial than your average sweatpants, but are now focussed on traditional with a twist looks.
The creative team of Baukjen de Swaan Arons and her hubs Geoff, wanted to solve those dressing dilemmas all us busy women come across – you know that moment when you need something stylish, on trend and still great quality – then wouldn’t it be even more awesome if your whole closet was full of that day to night and office to playtime stuff?
