Christmas Jumper Day Friday 12th December

Christmas Jumper Day – December 12th

If you haven’t quite had the festive vibe bite you in the nether regions yet, one of the best days to hop into the spirit is Friday 12th December which has been designated Christmas Jumper Day by Save The Children. This festive woolly pully day has been running for the past 3 years and so far has raised more than £1.6 million for the charity.

A few years back the ironic Christmas sweater took a saunter around the yuletide season, thanks to Colin Firth famously sporting one in the Bridget Jones movie, but then it was all about the garish. This time around festive sweaters have grown up, and become completely acceptable attire in the run up to the big day.

Even the team over at BuyMyWardrobe have put an upcycling spin on the Christmas Jumper Day theme. Take a peek here at one of their workshops I popped into the other week. Their festive knits are on sale here.

There are plenty of subtle motifs on this season’s statement knits to choose from. For a more high brow approach think Fairisle patterns, intarsia knits and subtle sequins. But most of all sign up to the Save The Children site, don your festive knit with pride and help raise money for a great cause.
