During NYFW last month Derek Lam took a brave step into the crowd sourcing game by teaming up with eBay for an experiment. He created 16 dresses that were shown then voted on at eBay, voting closed Feb 28th with over 100,000 votes tallied. The idea being that only the top few dresses will then be created and sold as a diffusion line on eBay. Ensuring that those of us who can’t always afford the design end pricing can dip into this collection.
So what did Lam’s voting public opt for? Among the five winners were 3 of Lam’s favorite designs… a black tie dress, a denim sun dress and the long floral boho dress.
The dresses are for sale from May 10th…with pre-orders open from April 11th.
