Is it time to blow off the Brazillian Blow Out?

WWD reported recently that the fab Brazilian Blowout treatment offered by many salons worldwide may be slightly dodgy – and by dodgy I don’t mean the resulting look i.e. poker straight hair a la Ms Aniston. No, it may actually contain traces of Formaldehyde – nice!

Yes, that scary chemical component, that is classified  as a probable carcinogen by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, might well be lurking on your shower shelf in the slimline brown bottle I for one, have come to know and love.

Brazilian Blowout LLC have been touting their product as “formaldehyde free” and reaping the benefit of product placement in hundreds of top salons worldwide. Currently the formula is under investigation and the company is finding that big swinger salons are now beginning to drop it’s treatment – Frederic Fekkai salons removed the treatment in September and we all know Freddie knows a thing or two about hair care.

My plan? I’m thinking not re-book my over due appointment and wait until the big cheeses and boffins have finished duking it out….

Judging by the Spring/Summer 11 catwalks which were all a buzz with 70’s curls – we’ll all be after curling tongs by next season anyway….
