Late Summer dresses to love.
I know we are just about to hit September, and all that back to school lark is in full flow. But just in case this sunny weather lasts a little longer, I figured it was time to consider late summer dresses. Having just scuttled back from a quick weekend in the South of France where I found my long sleeve Vanessa Bruno dress was the perfect item for the slightly chillier evenings I got to thinking perhaps our summer dresses have a little more longevity in them than we imagined.
Over the weekend I paired my Vanessa Bruno dress with these Barneys ankle wrap sandals and a pile of beaded bracelets, but a long-sleeved cutie like this could be worked equally well in the city with a pair of flats on a humid September day.
Late Summer dresses… what to look out for.
If you discount that old ‘no-white-after-labor-day’ rule, you’re crisp white cotton dresses might still fly in the event of an Indian Summer. But I reckon one thing that’s key to make this idea work is to ensure your late summer dress has sleeves. What with the glut of shirt dresses which are around which come in anything from a crisp cotton poplin to a pinstripe to a heavier khaki or denim, they are all perfectly sensible day wear or office wear candidates. If you snap something up in an Autumnal hue or a dark floral, then you can layer it up come the colder weather and segue it neatly through to next season.
Here are some of my top picks in stores right now… and some are on sale too… huzzah!
