There’s a nip in the air on this beautiful autumnal day, so it got me thinking maybe it’s time to break out the fur vests for the winter season. Whilst I’ve got a ton of winter coats (actually if truth be told I’m definitely in the ‘addict’ department when it comes to coats,) I’m loathe to jump straight into the full on woolly stuff just yet, and would rather take my time transitioning gracefully to the chillier climes ahead.
So step forward the fur gilets out there this season. You can choose from fur or faux these days as the faux ones have definitely upped their game in terms of softer textures and more flattering cuts.

The key to pulling off the fur gilet with any style is to think about your proportions. It’s no good buying the biggest oversize thing you can get your hands on if you are on the small side. Step away from the yeti look, and instead think cropped styles and slimline options so that the vest doesn’t end up wearing you.
If your waistline has been MIA more recently, don’t opt for a belted number, you will merely look like you’ve added on another half stone. Remember you are messing with that tricky art of layering a bulky item on your top half. To achieve a slimmer look snag yourself a vest with an asymmetric cut to give the illusion of a svelte bod.
