Shearling looks to love.
There’s a chill in the wind and winter is on its way. For me, that means breaking out the shearling on crisp autumnal days and heading out on long dog walks while the weather holds. I invested in this awesome Acne Studios shearling jacket a few seasons ago, and it’s an absolute wardrobe staple.
A typical weekday for me involves turfing the youngest child out of his cozy bed bright and early, and hooning him off to school with our pack of dogs (well all 2 of them) wagging their tails in the boot of the car in anticipation of their early morning yomp. Generally, my everyday uniform of oversized knit and beaten up boyfriend jeans doesn’t change, but my outerwear switches up a notch depending on the chill factor. Pop over to my Instagram Stories @notesbyastylist for a peek at some of the gorgeous dog walking spots in my neighbourhood.

Of course, dog walking requires some robust footwear, so when I was sent these awesome Loaff waterproof lace ups from Fitflop, I knew the perfect spot to road test them would be out in the Surrey Hills.
Shearling what to shop for.
Shearling is a pricey buy if you’re opting for the real thing – the jacket I bought was snapped up during sale time… if you can hold your nerve until Black Friday or Cyber Monday there are sure to be some bargains on offer. (Check back here in a week or so for a breakdown of the top sales around). Meanwhile here are a pile of shearling looks in store.
Remember there is an added bulk level when you wrap a shearling garment around you so opt for something slightly tailored to give you shape. The asymmetric/biker jacket styles around are perfect for perking up a silhouette. But if you are lucky enough to be a flute shape you can knock yourself out with some amazing oversize shearling outerwear that’s super on trend right now. Check our Bodyshape Boutique here for more intel on figuring out your body shape.
Also if you’re finding this shearling lark all a little too overwhelming to dive right on into, you could always dip your toes in the water with an accessory or two.
With thanks to FitFlop for the fab winter boots.
