Sleeveless coat… top transitional piece.
I love this time of year when the weather is beginning to turn. You might set out in the morning thinking it’s going to be a glorious warm day, but by mid afternoon a squall has whipped up and your early-start outfit choice of thin layers seems to be a bit of mistake. Step forward then the sleeveless coat, a new season must-have, which not only throws a nice slimline silhouette into your outfit mix, it also keeps you warm on rubbish weather days.
The sleeveless coat has been around for the last few seasons on the designer circuit, but this time around they are going mainstream with very affordable high street versions, so it’s time to jump on board. Think wools and tweeds, leather detailing or mixed up fabric patchwork ones are also hot ticket numbers to look out for.
Sleeveless coat… how to wear it.
I like to throw on my sleeveless coat over cropped pants, but that doesn’t mean that’s the only way to go. With a pile of culottes and mid length skirts set to fill the stores – you can always mix it up with a bunch of other separates.
I had workwear in mind when I put this edit together – this Karen Millen sleeveless wool coat is an ideal office staple in a seasonal neutral which will also work well next spring.
I paired the coat with a classic preppy boy shirt from J.Crew and these fab Mango cropped pants, along with Tod’s penny loafers – I’ve also got my eye on some oxblood tassel loafers for this fall btw. A touch of bright was then added with a J.Crew statement necklace, and these awesome The Row sunnies for that late autumn blast of sun. Finally this Mango bag in next seasons great ketchup red has you ticking another trend box.
