Who says suburbia is dull? This past week I was excited to be helping organize a charity fashion show in my local hood. Saks 5th Avenue had generously opened their Greenwich store for a private shopping event that also involved a runway show with real live Stepford wives hitting the catwalk.
What with hair styling by the uber talented Becker salon, make up by the pro’s at Saks and designer clothing from the S/S12 collections being pulled for the models to wear, it was set to be a hum dinger of a night.
Sadly I was a little too mouthy to my hairstylist, who then proceeded to make my creation look something akin to Astro boy meets Grace Kelly…not even my gorgeous Stella McCartney deckchair striped 60’s top could mask the trauma…
With the models suitably prepped and in position, wine glasses wrestled out of their shaking mitts, the music began and it was time to see the clothing.
We showed Prada lace overlaid dresses, Roberto Cavalli monster floral whispy maxi’s and Jil Sander sundresses. The Ralph Lauren reversible leather coat paired with daisy yellow Theory crop pants made an appearance, as did some Etro, Stella McCartney and Dolce & Gabanna pieces. All in all a fair smattering of delicious offerings for the season ahead.
