4 Ways to Customise Your Look This Spring.

The customising trend is going mainstream this upcoming spring, which means it’s time to get your inner artsy out and start beefing up your everyday looks with a little personalisation. The genius thing about having a bash at this trend is that it can be all about adding to what you already have in the form of monogramming or simply switching up a strap or two to make your classic buys stand out, so it doesn’t cost an arm and a leg.

Frist up an easy way to jump right into this game is to switch out a regular bag strap for one of the new guitar straps which are appearing in stores right now. I snapped up this Anya Hindmarch cutie just before Christmas and had mine customised with some sparkly initials and a space invaders character. Although there are tonnes more to choose from, and you don’t necessarily have to use the straps just for bags – I use this one for my Nikon camera which I carry around every day with me – so my cost per wear equation is kept super low! For other straps look to Rebecca Minkoff, Fendi or Gucci – but rest assured the high street will soon come up with cheaper versions before the season is done.

Next up check out the oodles of stickers which are around for ironing on to customise your jeans or jackets and also to stick onto bags. Granted you can buy these items with stickers already sewn on, but where’s the fun in that? I loved these from J.Crew kids department, but MIH Jeans also have a bundle, as do Anya Hindmarch and L.K. Bennett who introduced leather stickers just before Christmas for making your bag or accessories a little bespoke this season.

Another great way to get into the personalisation game is to have something monogrammed. Some of my favourite (and most used) pieces from last year were my Rae Feather monogrammed straw basket and clutch. You can personalise all sorts of gorgeous accessories through their website, and they have great gifting ideas too. Also, check out Smythson for monogramming ideas, and again Anya Hindmarch for awesome accessories with your own or your child’s handwriting transcribed onto items for the perfect personalised gift.

Finally, consider using jewellery to add that personal touch. Astley Clarke has long since championed the art of personalising their gorgeous pieces. You can opt for a zodiac sign on a pendant or have something engraved. Similarily Monica Vinader offers a great collection of initials which you can use to spell out someone’s’ name on a necklace or bracelet.
