You’ve gotta love an ironic Holiday knit. Who can forget the complete magic of the reindeer jumper sported by Colin Firth as Mark Darcy in Bridget Jones?
Well this season, the designers are on board with the concept. Luckily for us, not in a cheesey way, but in an ironic/cool kinda way.
I’m not talking badly knitted lumpy looking sweaters. This season look for fine knit cashmere or thick gauge skandi styles that will perk up your Christmas casual no end.
Meadham Kirchhoff are taking the vibe seriously, with this beautiful embellished knit which takes it’s inspiration from vintage wrapping paper. Pair with a pencil skirt and heels and head off to your godson’s carol concert.
You can trust Stella McCartney to work a little Brit irony into her work. Take a peek at this awesome reindeer sweater complete with fluoro stripes. A genius mix of naff and on trend. I raise a glass of egg nog to you Stella!

Lott78 have added a touch of comic strip to their woolly ‘off-white’ offering. I’m thinking this is a morning after sweater; pair with sweat pants, a large coffee and a tylenol.
Moschino have done the full on Mark Darcy for us, which is complete brilliance and actually quite cute too. Pair with this season’s leather skinny pants for a night out with your gal pals.
I couldn’t do a blog post on a Holiday knit without including the non believers. So here’s a piece from Zoe Karssen offering a few thoughts on the whole gig. Whilst not technically a knit, this sweatshirt still makes a fitting festive statement.
Finally, the Norwegian sweater is always a failsafe on the Holiday knit front. If you’re looking for something to give you that added kitsch on the ski slopes, then head on over to Gorsuch.com and knock yourself out.
