Spring tweed … the down-low.
Spring tweed is one of those great transitional pieces which can help you segue nicely from the usual March reckless whisper of spring, through April’s inevitable showers and on to the long promised warmth of May. It’s a light enough fabric to keep you cool on those days when the weather catches us by surprise and the sun actually shines, yet has enough klout to ensure warmth when needed.
This season spring tweed comes in anything from cute little A-line skirts, to classic round collar Chanel-like jackets and sweet boxy-cut tops. For my ‘what to wear this weekend’ edit, I couldn’t help but covet thie J.Crew metallic spring tweed top.
Spring tweed … how to wear it.
For a spring tweed top this simple boxy cut is easy to pair with anything. Ensure you try before you buy on one of these babies, as it’s always better to size up and reap the full benefit of the oversized half sleeve top trend, rather than feel you’ve squashed yourself into an item allowing the horror of muffin-top to rear it’s ugly head.
I’ve picked these cute Mango trousers which have a light railroad stripe pattern running through them – a definite spring-ready choice. The slim-fit pants accentuate the cut of the spring tweed top nicely, whilst the Elizabeth & James jacket gives the illusion of a nipped in waist, thanks to it’s 3/4 sleeves.
I’ve thrown in a little zesty lemon on the accessories front – a firm fave this spring; and don’t forget a cute pair of white or cream lace ups to pull the whole spring vibe together.
