Matthew Williamson …. sneak peek.

I popped into the Matthew Williamson AW14 press day just before the Easter hols to have a catch up with the lovely pr team, and swoon over some of his pieces for next season. The press days in Mayfair tend to all be thrown on the same day, to save all that pounding of pavements by well heeled fashion editors … although these days the shoe of choice for a day of press seems to be anything from a pointy flat to a Vans slider to a retro Adidas sneaker (by Stella ‘natch!)

In the past a Matthew Williamson collection had you almost believing that you were Kate Moss or Poppy Delevingne hanging out with your besties at Coachella. All that understated boho glam mashed up with luxe textures and sparkly details. This time around though he’s moving toward creating everyday looks for the working woman, albeit with a touch of his unmistakable boho vibe peeking through in the shape of crystal embellishments, feathers and fripperies.

Loved the pale blue coat above… and also this delightful pale blue bag… in fact make note of that pastel hue … a bunch of designers are running with it for next Fall.

I also loved the shearling details on these bags …

Although the Williamson marketing plan might be veering towards sensible separates, the party-girl he loves to design for is still in the mix; this collection was definitely for the office worker who likes to head out after hours.
