Fresh flowers … a quick tip.
I love getting fresh flowers for the house. One of my fave spots to pick them up from is my local farm shop who are always hot on giving me top tips on how to make them last longer. So here’s a little one for the weekend to pass on to you.
It seems kinda sensible once you see it… you know how those cheeky little gerbera daisies – which I totally love because of their instant zing of colour – but they always disappoint with their drooping within a matter of hours, even if I’ve given them pride of place in my posh LSA International vase. Well, with a sneaky bit of wiring you can get them to stand up nice and straight all week long.
So, next time you are in your local florists, grab some florist wire along with your gerberas and get ready to wrap…
Starting at the top of the stem – as close to the flower bud as possible, hold the wire in place, and then simply wrap the wire down and around the stem of the gerbera daisy to give it the required scaffolding to stay up straight.
Yes, it is possible to play with flowers and wear your bling ring – love my Soru chalcedony ring...
I also find it very important to match my watch to my flowers each week… Ice watch
Et voila – there are your gerberas standing up nice and straight… or with a little insouciant droop just for good measure.
I’m busy packing for a quick half term flit to Nassau in the Bahamas & hoping to dodge the hurricanes…Happy weekend…!
