Mulberry AW15 press day

Mulberry AW15 – what’s in store?

mulberry AW15

I know it seems a tad crazy to be talking AW15 on the hottest day of the year so far, but having popped into the Mulberry AW15 press day recently, my drooling over the images got a little over excessive, so I figured it was time to share. Also, the kids kept trying to nab this cute memory stick so it was definitely time to use it or lose it.

First up, I hadn’t had the pleasure of visiting the Mulberry HQ since being back in London, so it was lovely to see their new show space in all its glory.

Luckily the lovely Sabrina was on hand to walk me through the collection, which seemed to consist of at least 35 things that I wanted immediately…The inspo for the upcoming season is drawn from old English grand Georgian houses and the array of interior influences within. Think filigree fanciful patterns, rich woven jacquards and sumptuous textural details. Being a bit of a coat fiend, I headed straight for the racks bursting with fluffy, patterned and multi-textured cuties.

This Dixter coat had the most awesome feel and when you looked closely you couldn’t tell which was your favourite side… inside or outside… both divine. If we were playing a game of ‘Love, Like, Adore’ this one would be in my ‘Love’ pile.

Next up a pale pink Dixter coat in rose petal tumbled double wool – this get’s put in my ‘Like’ pile… though this pattern also comes in the form of a skirt and dress for those more ladylike amongst us.

This one comes in straight at ‘Adore’ – it’s a Dee coat in light grey marl shearling… seriously yum with the patchwork pattern literally sewn into place.

After getting all hot under the collar with these pieces, it was time for a little refreshment break…

Before checking out the filigree screen print silks…which in truth look better in the flesh than in this pic. The idea is to mash up your filigree patterns together, but for me they work better as single statement pieces – far less busy and easier to work in with any of your wardrobe basics.

Of course, there were bags galore… but that’s a whole other post… for now take a peek below at some of my top picks for spring from Mulberry, which will see you through to the Autumnal drop quite nicely. I don’t own a massive amount of this brand… it’s definitely in the ‘special treat’ bracket. But what’s great about this Great British brand, is that there are plenty of entry level pieces which you can buy into which don’t have you re-mortgaging the house. So if you’re not in the Bayswater, Alexa or Cara league just yet you can still enjoy a little Mulberry treat.
