Maybe it was the whimsical nature of the collection, or maybe the stirring start to the show when John Lennon’s ‘Imagine’ was played to commemorate the 9/11 victims, whatever the starting point, this designer hadn’t really been on my radar until this week.
Now that she is, Lela Rose has my full attention. From mixed prints and textures in bold graffitti brights that would suit a downtown girls closet for next spring, right the way through to smart ‘ladies that lunch’ dresses that the upper east side crew will appreciate – the collection was fun and girly with a touch of grown up sassy that will appeal across the board.
