If there’s one thing that transfers well from season to season, it has to be the good old stripe knits. From the joy of breaking out your Breton tops once the summer rolls around to the delicious chunky stripe knits which are heading our way this Autumn – there’s something about these cuties that brightens up your day and adds a little skip to your step when you’re wearing them. So here’s a quick post on some new season stripe knits worth getting your hands on early before the rush.

I first spotted this Essentiel Antwerp woolly pully while researching all the new season trends (our report for that comes out this weekend if you fancy a peek – take a look here for more…). But then also spotted the fab Kat Farmer (@doesmybumlook40) sporting it, which I took as a sign from the gods that I needed it in my new season armoury. The only difference between the lovely Kat and myself is that she is around 6ft tall and I’m a mere midget at 5′ 3″ on a good day. So I got to wondering whether I could pull off this amount of stripe whilst still maintaining petite proportions. The only way to find out was to do what I’m good at… which is shop obvs… so with a quick click or two, it was in my hot sweaty little palms before even your granny could break out the knitting needles and knock you one up.

I’ve paired this stripe knit with J.Brand jeans, vintage belt, Paula Cademartori bag (old – but similar here) and & Other Stories sneakers… because who can say no to sparkly white sneakers for the beginning of the season right?

The great thing about stripe knits this season is that you don’t have to just settle for a jumper. They also come in oversized cardigan format and also blanket coats or scarves. As long as you remember to stick to the age-old style rules of keeping the size of your stripe in proportion to your body size, then you are off to the on-trend races. If you are on the petite side look for stripes which are thinner and less chunky, but if you are on the taller end of the spectrum knock yourself out with some statement stripe action.
