Wednesday’s Wish list…50’s floral

If you pop into the stores this week, your senses will be smacked full on with spring’s offerings. But beware, it’s a bit of a wake up call from the dreary winter looks we’ve been used to. To ease yourself into the season arm yourself with a pair of sunnies and check out the florals, and in particular those with a hint of retro 50’s vibe for your fashion hit list.

There’s something about a 50’s floral that I can’t quite resist. It reminds me of sneaking into my mum’s closet trying to root out her old kitten heel slingbacks for my (way back then) punk outfit, and finding amazing full swing skirts and cute cap sleeve dresses in pastel shades. Clearly they weren’t going to work for my punk vibe so I passed them by in my covert hunt, but the memory of them and the thousands of Doris Day & Cary Grant movies I fell in love with at the same time must have stuck.

So here are a few of the pieces on my wish list this week

High street fave Ted Baker has upped the style anti this season. Think girly pastel florals like this cap sleeved dress.

Check out Karen Millen for a new floral take on the retro trench.

Zimmerman who do swimsuits to lust after, have picked up on the fifties vibe for spring…

I’m loving the blown up digital blooms on Vivienne Westwood’s Anglomania skirt…

Whilst Matthew Williamson’s cute floral capri’s are definitely finding a place in my spring cloest.

And whilst Valentino’s floral brocade dress might be pushing the envelope towards more of a 60’s vibe – it’s still pretty damn cute and worthy of this wish list for sure…
