Matches Fashion Sale … what to wear this week

Matches Fashion Sale… the low down

You’ve gotta love a sale, but when it comes to the Matches Fashion Sale, it’s time to pay particular attention. For me, sale time is all about snagging those designer duds, which you couldn’t quite justify when they were full price, but still kept popping them into your shopping cart in case you won the lottery on the weekend.

Matches Fashion is a long time favorite shopping spot of mine. In the early days, I used to pop into their Wimbledon Village stores or the Richmond one, but when I moved to New York my only Matches fix came via their online store. This prompted numerous problems, mainly because there was so much to ogle over on their beautifully curated site, I ended up buying things I didn’t even know I was craving until I’d spotted them winking at me from the site.

Fast forward to today, and I’m pleased to say it still rates as one of my go-to shopping spots. When the Matches Fashion sale alert drops into my inbox, it’s fair to say I’m quicker than Usain Bolt out of the blocks.

Matches Fashion Sale … the work wear edit

I always have my eye on serious designer pieces at any sale time, but I also like to nab things which are actually going to work with the rest of my wardrobe. There’s nothing worse than grabbing a bargain only to find that in your haste to win it in the midst of ‘sales’ insanity, you then have nothing to match it with, or it’s a stand alone piece you might only wear once.

For my Matches Fashion sale hit list I’m thinking wide-leg tailored pants like these Derek Lam beauties, paired with a slim-fit jersey top from Roksanda Ilinicic , and this fab peacoat I’ve been coveting from Maison Martin Margiela all season.

Throw on some Jil Sander pumps and a Burberry Prorsum bargain and you are off to the races on building your capsule designer closet collection.
