L.K. Bennett, Spring 14 … the press day
In the midst of a slew of press days recently, in a rather wet and windy central London, I stepped into the divine setting of the L.K.Bennett show space and its homage to spring at the seaside. Greeted by a tarot card reader and a rather charming chap bearing canapés, I was whisked to a world where the sun shone, and a gal could saunter down the boardwalk in her espadrilles unhindered by the perils of the winter weather.
For me L.K.Bennett has traditionally been about sensible workwear, but with this Spring 14 collection there was a lot more fun injected into the pieces than in seasons gone past. With shoes resting on huge branded wicker baskets, handbags draped over traditional deck chairs and seaside front townhouses, it had you feeling like you were strolling through Brighton in the 50’s.
L.K. Bennett … the trends
This L.K. Bennett collection has hit a number of key spring trends. There are pointy toes in abundance...
Plenty of stud and cut out details…
Great seasonal colour block bags…
Wedges with a beachy boho vibe which would be perfect for a trot down Rodeo Drive…
And pumps to give your tired old Vans a run for their money.
My absolute favourite piece though, has got to be this paint spattered clutch…
