Animal print … what’s the scoop?
I’ve always had a slight aversion to animal print. I put it down to watching too much Coronation Street back in the day when Bet Lynch worked her animal print worst on screen. Fast forward to today, and thanks to the onset of some delightful faux pony skin animal print fabrics I find myself considering the look afresh.
I spotted this Whistles skirt a while back, but didn’t take the plunge with a purchase until I found it on sale, at which point I decided it was meant to be. It’s made of this fab faux pony skin leather effect and is super structured, so feels like all the bulging bits are being held in…result!
My dog Fozzie found the whole thing equally alluring, so I ended up having to have him in the shots….
Any animal print piece is a bit of a statement, so it’s always good to pair your print with neutrals. Thanks to the brown/taupe/black colour-fest going on, you’ve got three great neutrals to work with right there in the mix from the start. Because the Whistles skirt feels pretty structured, I liked the notion of throwing on some looser unstructured pieces to counteract the severity of the skirt.
