Appliqued top … what’s the scoop?
There’s a pile of fancy embellishment and fabric-trickery on the way for spring outfits. One of my faves is the use of appliqué and layered lace on the boxy tops which are just landing in stores right now. There’s something about an appliquéd top which lifts it right out of the everyday ordinary, and slots it quite nicely into the ‘any occasion’ bracket.
I snaffled this cute appliqued top from the Tory Burch outlet in Woodbury Commons when I was in New York last week. I can’t walk away from yellow when it’s winking at me from the rack at the best of times, but when it’s marked down to some ridiculously low price, it’s a no-brainer, it has to be mine. I also love this lace J.Crew one. The clutch is Theory from a few seasons ago.
I paired my appliqued blouse for Easter Sunday with cargo pants from Calypso St Barth from a few seasons back, so long gone by now, but similar here and here.
The pointy fabric sling backs are Miu Miu from another outlet run – this time the Prada one in Florence. Note to self… seriously time for another visit to that one! Luckily there are oodles of pointy slingbacks around for spring, either with a kitten heel or in pointy flats style. Similar styles here and here, or click here for my Wish List post about pointy flats. Bracelets are a mix of J.Crew and Chan Luu.
Appliqued top … how to wear it 3 ways.
You can definitely work the appliqued top in all manner of ways. It perks up a slouchy look at the weekend, yet breezes effortlesly into office appropriate wear. For date night or a cocktail event pair your appliqued top with a simple tux jacket for a very on-trend take on the look.
