Bicester Village brunch talks

I’m always partial to a trip to Bicester Village, but when you add on the intrigue of a brunch talk with the lovely Donna Air and Karen Millen’s awesome creative director Gemma Metheringam, to give us style advice on how to work their collection faves for the upcoming summer season, then you had me at  brunch … oops, I mean style advice.

We gathered in the lovely Farmshop restaurant and cafe (who are part of the Soho House team).

Having recently popped into the Karen Millen AW16 presentation, I was already marvelling at how far the design team have taken the brand in terms of quality, luxury and more importantly fit; so when Gemma and Donna set about styling up some of the key season pieces, we also got some snippets on how much work actually goes into creating these gorgeous collections.

For example, there are oodles of yards of ribbon on each of these fab flared dresses… and guess what – there are pockets too…not just on this item but on a bundle of the designs… which I love! I don’t know about you but the comfort factor of having pockets in a dress or skirt are paramount to my buying decisions – even if it’s just somewhere to stash your phone, pockets are my must-have.

I also didn’t realise that the prints at Karen Millen are created in 3 different sizes so that when the atelier works on larger sizes the print stays at proportionally the same scale so the garments look perfect each time.

There are plenty of on-trend pieces in the new spring/summer collections and what’s even more fun is that you can play around with mixing up your prints and styles and they all kind of work together.

The item which stole my heart was this gorgeous block striped coat (which might well have made it into my shopping bag after the event).

It was a fun filled morning and great to see someone else’s take on how to work the different looks. If you get a chance to head to any of the #BrunchTalks at Bicester Village then I would highly recommend them. Check out their website for more details.

Bicester Village… what’s on.

Spring has definitely sprung at Bicester Village and perfectly timed with my little trip to this shopping mecca was a fabulous Private Sale which started April 28th and runs through to May 8th. With selected brands participating you can get some amazing extra discounts. Head to their website to sign up for their VIP programme here to receive more news and offers.
