Boyfriend sweater … the low down

If, like me, your week is packed full of last minute chores mixed up with the odd soiree here and there, the boyfriend sweater is the perfect on-trend piece to segue you from relaxed to slouchy smart.

The boyfriend sweater comes in many a guise, but my all out favorites have to be the J.Crew collection cashmere ones which have been filling up my closet for the past few seasons. Just when you think you’ve struck on exatly the right hue and are promising yourself to go cold turkey (oops! seasonal pun alert) on your obsession, another colourway pops up on the screen, which it seems you are in dire need of to complete your collection.

For this Holiday season, red is of course the no-brainer pick. You can mooch from picking up family at the station, to neighbors egg nog event and right on through to trimming the tree, whilst humming along to Michael Buble in this perfect boyfriend sweater.

Boyfriend sweater … how to wear it

I’ve been wearing my boyfriend sweater with anything from jeans by day to luxe jacquard pants for cocktail evenings this season. With a busy week ahead filled with picking up the turkey, through to delivering pressies to relatives, I’d opt for a pair of MiH Paris jeans and these awesome Church’s brogues.

The great thing about the boyfriend sweater for this time of year is that you can eat any amount of Christmas food safe in the knowledge that it’s slouchy user-friendly style will cover up all manner of sins. For an extra style touch, try tucking the front of your sweater into the waist of your trousers for an instant slimming effect.

A plaid jacket, like this J.Crew number also has a touch of the festive season about it… I’m wondering if I can work mine through to Burn’s night in January…?
