This weekend the perfect storm occurred at the Buy My Wardrobe event in London. For a shopping obsessed, fiscally prudent gal like myself, it sounded like an event not to be missed.
To be fair, when you factor in shopping, champagne and cup cakes, there’s not a whole lot wrong with that scenario…(quite frankly you had me at shopping), but the Buy My Wardrobe team went over and above the call of duty this Saturday at The Roof Gardens in Kensington, and delivered an awesome sale of pre-loved fashion.
You needed to get there early to snag the bargains from this hand-picked collection of sellers. Even Channel 4’s Fabulous Fashionistas were on hand to ferret through the bargains and mix with celeb bloggers like Jaime Jan of Boy Meets Fashion
So here’s the gig… a little like jumble sales of old, the Buy My Wardrobe ethos is all about selling on those delightful pieces which you loved but now never wear, to an owner who will treat them with the same respect and reverence they deserve…it’s almost like selling your kitten…but think kitten heels.
And while I might count myself as one of the fashion smart folk out there, during this particular event I learnt a very important lesson. Whilst I might be pre-disposed to a Matthew Williamson or Stella MccCartney jacket, during a pre-loved sale, one needs to pay particular attention to the size of the person selling their wears.
Take the lovely Savannah for example….even though my beady little eye fell straight upon her covetable collection of labels, once I had clocked the size of the pieces on offer and double checked that with the diminutive size of the seller, I knew that all her wonderful garments were only ever destined to remain on my wishlist as they were never going to fit me.
So here’s a shout out to all those 5’3″ size 10/12 ladies out there owning designer goods they want to get rid of…get yourselves connected to Buy My Wardrobe sharpish, as I for one definitely have an interest in your goods.
And then here are the pieces that weren’t for sale….these glorious Sophia Webster heels…
And these guys… who were just wondering what the hell was going on… #fashionistaflamingos…now there’s a Channel 4 documentary waiting to happen.
