Camel tones…heavenly neutrals for spring.
J.Crew Harris Tweed coat from Net-a-Porter, Isabel Marant Étoile sweater, Current Elliott tattered stiletto jeans, Acne Studio boots.
If, like me, you’ve spent the whole of the winter living only in greys and charcoals after they had been declared the new neutrals for cold weather climes, then it’s just about time to kick the habit. With spring’s new neutrals hitting stores and a 70’s vibe to boot, it’s time to consider camel tones for your new go-to wardrobe basic. Yes, that’s camel tones, not to be confused with camel toe – a less flattering 70’s phenomenon.
Don’t tell me you haven’t noticed the impending onslaught of the 70’s themed looks. Flares and fringing seem to be glaring at us from every shop window, and also the hues of that era are set to make our must-have lists. Sadly I’m old enough to remember the bad old 70’s garb, so whilst not jumping for joy at the thought of revisiting some of the looks, I figure camel tones are well within my comfort zone and will do for a nod to the trend heading our way.
Last week I donned my new fave camel coat from J.Crew via Net-a-Porter and headed up to Notting Hill and Portobello Road market to shoot some images for upcoming posts on the blog. The sun was shining so I broke out my white jeans and layered up to beat the brisk wind chill rattling down the market streets.
The great thing about adopting a new neutral colour, is that you probably have the perfect add-on items to complete the look already hanging about in your closet. Being on the short side, I like to do head-to-toe in one colour (gives the illusion that you’re slightly taller than you are) and then layer up whatever the statement piece is over the top.
Bag is vintage but similar calf-hair ones here and here. Ring is Alexis Bittar and bracelet Swarovski slake. Sunnies are Illesteva.
Camel tones… best of the rest
I’m already quite smitten with this neutral, so here are a bunch of other pieces in camel tones which are currently on my wish list…
Maxmara jacket, Aquazzura heels, J.W. Anderson shift dress, Isabel Marant Étoile linen-blend trousers, 3.1 Phillip Lim sunnies, Next suedette tassel jacket, Saint Laurent cross-body bag, Equipment over-sized cashmere sweater,
