Camouflage trend to try.

So it’s nearly time for the schools to start and for us mums to get our freedom back… not that we don’t love those pesky little critters obviously, but I for one am ready to get back to a routine which involves a little more me-time. And for me, me-time is all about actually having time to think about what I’d like to wear and not just pull on yesterday’s shorts because I’m late for getting no.3 to his latest play date or sleepover. So at this time of year, I love to start to embrace the new trends which are popping into store… and one I’ve got my eye on is the camouflage trend.

Now I’m not normally one for doing a lot of print, or for that matter chucking too many trends together at the same time, so I thought I’d dip into the camouflage trend a little gingerly with a simple J.Crew Tippi knit. I know there are oodles of camo jackets and skinny cargo pants around, but until I’ve got into my comfort zone with a new trend, I tend to tread carefully.

To work this trend right, you need to treat your camo print like any other pattern. If you are on the petite side like me, look for smaller sized print, but taller gals can pull off larger sized patterns. Don’t overload the look unless you are going for that print-clash end of the trend spectrum, otherwise, pair your camo with simple neutrals so that the print ends up doing all the talking. If the thought of a print is still too much of a jump you could always dip your toe into the trend with an accessory or two… there’s even a camo print nail varnish!
