Charli Cohen … the skinny

It’s not often you get a mash up of fashion and fitness, but during London Fashion Week this season, two of my favourite things collided in the Charli Cohen presentation on top of the ME London Hotel’s Radio Rooftop Bar. The rain had miraculously cleared up to bring the only blue skies we saw all week, so the Charli Cohen models made full use of the awesome setting.

Charli Cohen  trained in both fashion and fitness, so it was a bit of a no brainer to become a sportswear designer. With her prize winning collections and unique perspective, she has bridged the gap between performance activewear and the ready-to-wear fashion markets.

As I’m currently dabbling in the old ‘get fit’ thing, I’ve been scouring the web for groovy duds to work out in, which aren’t the same old ‘cookie cutter’ Lululemon or Sweaty Betty looks. Clearly it’s nigh on impossible for me to take on any kind of new fitness regime, without forking out for a slew of new deliciously on-trend work out clothes, so this collection certainly got my attention.

This gal knows a thing or two about designing sports clothes which actually look great, as well as fit their practical purpose. Her AW14 collection fuses high tech fabrication with a futuristic Robocop kind of feel with a luxe vibe. Some of the pieces have a Helmut Lang look about them, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see them morph into perfectly acceptable streetwear items. I for one have got my eye on those black laser leggings for my weekend wardrobe for next Fall. The whole lot is 100% made in Britain, which gives me another reason to feel good about snagging some of her body-sculpting pieces.
