Denim top … office ready staple.
It wasn’t so long ago when denim was relegated to the weekend wardrobe. Just a few years ago I wouldn’t have dreamt of suggesting donning your denim duds and heading into the workplace. But more recently, thanks to the advent of some snappy design techniques in the denim industry, there are a whole slew of on-trend items out there, which are more than perfectly acceptable for the office.
Step forward this cute J.W. Anderson denim top as our starting point this week. Not only is it ticking the ‘boxy top’ trend ticket; it’s also nailing the darker denim wash looks out there, which I think are super work-appropriate with their more sombre tone.
It’s easy to dress a simple denim top up or down, depending on the demands of your business sector. Why not grasp the opportunity this week to road test a denim top in your workplace, and see for yourself how easy it is to make this adaptable fabric a workhorse in your wardrobe.
I love the slightly nautical twist of this look. By pairing the J.W.Anderson denim top with this cute striped pencil skirt from J.Crew, it hits a spring-ready preppy vibe. I added this cool Isable Marant jacket which can currently be found in the awesome Matches Fashion Style Steal section…. I kid you not – those guys are offering amazing items on their Style Steal page every day – I think I’m slightly addicted.
I like a crisp white lace up in the spring. These ones from The Office are at a great price point. I’ve added a simple Karen Millen tote and thrown in a pop of colour with some sunnies from The Row, a J.Crew statement necklace and this lovely Lily & Lionel scarf.
