Double denim… yes you can!

I’ve been fretting about the double denim thing this season, watching the likes of Alexa and Cara rocking it via my Grazia mag, and had figured it was one of those trends it was time to let go of… a bit like clunky platforms this season… did them in high school, not doing them again thanks. But then I happened upon these cute MiH Jeans culottes in white denim.… and had an epiphany. If all you remember about double denim is those awful Britney and Justin looks, then think again. By mixing up your denim colour palettes, you too can enjoy the bliss of this little micro trend once more, before you settle for your age appropro twinset and pearls.

I came across MiH Jeans soon after we relocated back to Blighty from New York. Their design studios are based in Hammersmith and they’ve got that everything-under-one-roof vibe going on, which just oozes their pedigree as go-to denim gurus. Their white denim culottes have just enough stretch to allow for the odd lunch or two, a little fraying around the hemline (which is very NOW – and has the fash world getting all excited – especially if it’s by up and coming design duo sensation Marques’ Almeida) And hits just at the right ‘midi’ hemline spot to make your legs look vaguely shapely even though you know the rest of that wide leg denim construction party is holding back a heap of sins on the legs-not-quite-ready-for-summer front.

Throw in a J.Crew denim jacket in Tyler wash, an Iris & Ink silk shirt from The Outnet. and you are well on your way to nailing double denim in a good way. The clutch is an old one from Whistles, but this season comes in a lovely pastel pink here.

For jewellery, I’m currently obsessed with the Alex Monroe bumble bee necklace which I snagged at Liberty recently, and also just picked up this cute stacking ring from Stella & Dot at one of their trunk shows.

Finally, I popped on my fabo Tabitha Simmons Lou silk-jacquard pumps which I snapped up in the sales last year. I had loads of people asking where to get them and thought they’d fallen off the face of the earth, but happy to report they are now on sale at The Outnet – so get clickety clicking whilst stocks last….
