Easy New Year’s Eve Outfit Options.
If Christmas outfit planning isn’t tricky enough, by the time we hit New Year’s Eve, I don’t know about you, but I’m kind of out of options. In our house we tend to hover between the classic can’t-be-bothered-veg-on-the-sofa-till-Jools-comes-on kind of NYE nights and the Oh-go-on-then-we-didn’t-have-any-plans-so-why-not last minute party types. Which means having an easy New Year’s Eve outfit option available to chuck on at the last minute is the perfect solution.
More recently I’m also leaning towards the comfort factor when it comes to dressing up. So step forward the outfit which keeps on giving – the classic jumpsuit. I wore one recently for the premiere of The Orient Express movie (you can catch that post here), and, apart from the inherently tricky bathroom break logistics a jumpsuit brings, I think the comfort factor pros outweigh the cons and I’ve been turning to them more and more. I’m not really a dress person, so the beauty of the jumpsuit is that a bit like a dress, you don’t have to worry about matching your separates up to complete the outfit, and it also appeals to the tomboy in me.
I snapped up this Hush sparkly jumpsuit the minute it hit the shelves. It comes with spaghetti straps and flattering neckline but is also quite voluminous – and ergo super comfy. I’ve paired it here with a tux jacket (an old stalwart from Amanda Wakeley but similar here) strappy J.Crew heels (similar here) and a satin DVF evening bag (different colour but on sale here). I think the sharper structure of the tux jacket compliments the flow of the jumpsuit so has you feeling like you could, in fact, be lounging on your sofa watching Jools after all.
So let’s talk about the bathroom break problem… the dilemma when wearing a jumpsuit. Yes, it’s a problem, but no it shouldn’t stop you wearing a jumpsuit. Over the years my foolproof plan has been to ensure one factors in ample time to de-robe before answering the call of nature and all is well.
