Edible flower ice cube fun
Last week I organized a surprise vintage tea party for some of my daughter’s friends who are leaving her school this summer. After scouring Pinterest for a zillion ideas about styling the event, one of the standout things we decided we would love to do was to get some edible flower ideas added to the mix.
We ordered a couple of boxes of these little beauties from First Leaf a specialist edible flower company (who I later found out come from Pembrokeshire in Wales so was very happy to be buying from the homeland!) With a little help from no.2 son we set about squishing the flowers into silicon ice cube trays.
The pesky things tend to float so a little gentle shoving and doubling up on the smaller flowers in some of the slots was definitely the order of the day. We left them to freeze overnight, but then it was worth the wait as the results were just beautiful… sorry – get ready for picture overload…but I think I just found my new fave hobby…
We saved another punnet for decorating the eats and popping ice cubes into water glasses… more on the actual party styling on the blog over this upcoming weekend…
Pinterest is definitely my ‘go-to’ place for ideas and inspiration these days – it’s amazing what you can search for on there. Hop on over to our Pinterest boards to see where we get our inspo from.
We used silicon ice cube trays to freeze the flowers as they are super easy to then pop out compared with metal or plastic trays. We chose square ones just because we liked the look of that shape, but there are so many funky ice cube shapes and sizes you could go wild – take a look below and click through to shop some other funky ice cube ideas.
