This week I had to shoot the Christmas edition of the Style hunter page in the Expat Living. It is hard to get in the festive mood when the sun is still shining, but we managed to get the perfect atmosphere with lots of sparkles, red and gold.
This is the weekend of the annual Hockey tournament for Dutch expats in Asia (the ZOAT) which is always a huge event. This year’s theme for the party in the uber hip Ozone bar is GOLD, how convenient, outfit sorted!
Some of the perks of blogging are the freebies you get now and then. As a blogger for Style By Asia I was really chuffed to receive a complimentary night and afternoon tea in the new Penta Hotel in Kowloon near Diamond Hill . It is definitely off the beaten track but I love the way they decorated this hotel in a retro Asian urban style.
If you are in that neck of the woods, make sure to check out the fortune tellers at the temple at Wong Tai Sin. My fortune teller told me I would lead a prosperous, long and happy life and who am I to doubt a professional? Actually he guessed some spookily accurate things about me, quite impressive. Another, quite unknown, place in Diamond Hill is the Chi Lin Nunnery and the Nan Lian Garden, a Feng Shui oasis in the middle of a concrete jungle. On a very different note, I am always on the lookout for new products and lately I kept reading raving stories about a product that you will probably find in your own cupboard – ‘organic apple cider vinegar’. Apparently Madonna, Gwyneth Paltrow and Megan Fox are big fans and not because they use it in a salad dressing. The die-hards dilute a tablespoon in water, and drink it as a beverage. Why? Definitely not for the taste, I can tell you that from experience. Water with this vinegar is supposed to be amazing for your skin, hair and it has countless health benefits. So I have added this to my daily routine, it is definitely an acquired taste but all for a good cause. One of the big trends for this Winter are over the knee boots. I personally think they are great but you have to be careful not to end up looking like Julie Roberts in Pretty Woman. Dress them down would be my advice. They will look great with (faux) leather or coated skinnies and an oversized jumper. Also, this trend is probably not going to last forever, so I would try and find an affordable pair. These Boohoo Poppy ones are a bargain at 38 GBP or 470 HK$, snap them up here… Boohoo Poppy over the knee boots. But if you want to spend a bit more then these Stuart Weitzman boots are a great option for GBP 393 or HK$ 4884 This grey woollen jumper GBP 19 or 235 HK$ is perfect addition to the knee high boots. These Ann Taylor coated skinnies GBP 60 or HK$ 744 are great to finish this look.
