Embroidered skirt … the low-down.
For me, an embroidered skirt is the epitome of spring to summer dressing. Years ago I struck upon the perfect office-wear formula for this time of year – you know that weird transitional weather, where one minute it’s baking hot and the next you wish you’d packed your brolly and mac. I happened upon an embroidered skirt with a bright needlework pattern, which whispered summer but was definitely more of a practical piece for the dodgy June climate.
Fast forward to today, and there are a bunch of embroidered skirt cuties out there, begging to head to your closet and work that same formula for you. If you pick a skirt with a punchy and vibrant pattern, work it with your spring neutrals this month, then add some crisp white linen touches to carry it through the summer months.
Embroidered skirt … how to wear it.
I love this Boden embroidered skirt – I’m a sucker for all things yellow, but this skirt also comes in a ton of other lovely summer ready hues. It’s neat A-line silhouette means it’s totally office appropriate, but could work equally well on the weekend when paired with your fave sneakers.
I’ve put the skirt together with this oversized slogan sweatshirt by Etre Cécile – currently a steal at the Matches Fashion sale. I also love the sculpted shape of this Whistles jacket – definitely a great look which will work right through to next season.
To finish up I’ve thrown in these great neutral Whistles wedges, a cute Venessa Arizaga bracelet, de rigeur Ray-Bans in a spring colour, and a Chan Luu scarf to keep the changeable weather at bay. Finally, this fabo Iris & Ink tote is another item which you can buy now but will segue nicely to the autumn.
