The everyday summer dress you need
Each season there’s one piece that becomes a no-brainer-must-have-you’d-be-a-fool-not-to kinda purchase, and this summer that has to be the everyday summer dress. You know that dress you’ve been looking for all these years which could take you effortlessly from office to evening or even better beach to bbq in the warmer months. Well this season thanks to the proliferation of shirt dresses, broderie, lace and eyelet styles, there are plenty of choices out there which hit the mark and then some.
The perfect everyday summer dress should have just the right amount of crisp cotton (to keep you cool) paired with a playful detail or two – it’s summer, after all, time to live a little right? I picked up this Derek Lam tie front dress through FarFetch which is one of my go-to online shops when I’m looking for something off the beaten track. It stocks pieces from its global community of over 400 fashion forward boutiques – if you can’t find what you’re looking for here, then it probably hasn’t been designed yet.
Easy details to look out for to nail a trend or two this season on the summer dress front include anything tie front, ruffles or frill detail, stripes, Pom poms, embroidery and of course broderie. I’m heading to the South of France on a girls trip in a week or two so was weirdly drawn to channeling my ‘stroll through a French market’ look with this fab Rae Feather straw basket and Yosuzi hat. The shoes are a few seasons old from Miu Miu but check out Matches Fashion offering of embellished slip on’s – very pleasing!
