Floral skirts …the low down
This spring brings an abundance of all things floral our way, from bomber jackets to bags, sneakers to skirts. You name it, if you can wear it, you can get it in a fancy floral. So I figured it was time to step out of my denim and cashmere comfort zone, to road test one of the delicious floral skirts I’ve seen landing in stores of late.
I’m not really a skirt person if truth be told. Obviously that one tiny foible has not deterred me from buying a bundle of skirts each season, only to have them stack up in my closet looking forlorn as I pull on my trusty MiH Jeans. But this year, I’ve vowed to work on my ‘girly’ dressing skills, so floral skirts are the first stop on my new improved personal style journey.
For this style experiment I opted for this cute fifties Ted Baker number. What with it’s layers of tulle and in your face prints, as floral skirts go it’s a seriously girly one. I paired it with another Ted Baker fave, which is this super luxe jewelled sweater that I found last week (you can read about more jewelled sweaters here) and loved it so much had to go back and get another one.
I threw on my oldest pair of Manolo Blahniks which could tell a few late night stories if you plied them with enough liquor…oh no, that’s probably just me….oops….
I also have this lovely black pony skin circular bag which is another vintage find, and works well with the dark tones of the print. Though I also love this Sophie Hulme navy one…Finally some J.Crew bracelets et voila, my floral skirts homage; which I’m definitely taking on my trip on the Orient Express this June from Venice to London.
