Fluted skirt … what’s the gig?
If you’re bored of the same old pencil skirt you keep hauling out of your closet for work each week, it’s time to take a look at it’s distant cousin, the fluted skirt this spring. As usual in fashion, there’s always a little micro trend bubbling along somewhere, and this season on the skirt front it’s these cute little skirts with a fluted hemline which have a nice spring vibe to them.
The joy of a fluted skirt is that the body of the skirt still works that figure flattering pencil shape, whilst the flirty fluted hemline adds a little extra sass to your look. For figure-hugging perfection look for thicker fabrics or textures which hold the body shape well. This J.Crew one is made from a neoprene, so similarly to last weeks post on the scuba dress, it comes with it’s own body enhancing delights built in.
Fluted skirt … how to wear it.
I like to balance the shapely fluted skirt with a little slouch in the form of a boyfriend sweater. I found this one from Iris & Ink which is in a light cashmere, so perfect for using to segue from these not so warm spring days through to early summer. Added slouch comes in the form of the McQ Alexander McQueen leather bomber jacket (which is a steal on the The Outnet right now along with a bunch of the other items on this post which I’ve starred)
As my fluted skirt choice comes in a bold and bright print, I’ve toned down the rest of the accessories with simple neutrals so that the eye is not offended with too much information when you approach your office co-workers. Sunglasses are Alexander Wang, scarf Accessorize, bag from Karen Millen and I love this resin cuff by Oscar de la Renta.
