Gingham style to perk up your summer look.
I’ve had a bit of a thing for gingham for years. I blame watching too many Doris Day movies from the 50’s on rainy Sunday afternoons back in the day. But there’s something about this pattern which has an effortlessly perky appeal and is guaranteed to add a little vacation spring in your step this summer. Its preppy East Coast vibe is endlessly appealing when paired with anything from denim cut offs right through to crisp monochrome shirt dresses – definitely a holiday outfit contender for sure.
If you’ve had your eye on the fashion trends for this season, you will have seen a bevvy of gingham looks jumping off the catwalks. From off-the-shoulder cuteness to oversized boyfriend shirts, crisp monochrome shirt dresses and fabulously frivolous ruffled skirts.
I snapped up this Maje shirt dress and have paired it here with Prada espadrille brogues from last season (similar here), a cool Davina Mulford Panama hat and also one of her fab fringe cross-body bags and a pair of Tom Ford sunnies. Price points on the gingham front can go from the safe to the sublimely ridiculous depending on where you’re looking. But high street stores have got us covered on this trend too so you can easily buy into this trend at any level.
