House of Holland … the fun fashion facts.
If you’re one of those gals who likes a little fun with her fashion, then Henry Holland is worth putting on your radar. He’s come a long way since the days of his infamous slogan t-shirts – who can forget the classic “I’ll Tell You Who’s Boss Kate Moss” tee? Nowadays he designs the House of Holland collections, as well as various collabs and his exclusive H! By Henry Holland label with Debenhams.
I saw the House of Holland Spring/Summer 14 collection up close and personal at a press day before Christmas, and was blown away by the luxe quality and aesthetic of his pieces. He might have built his reputation by creating eccentric looks for irreverent Londoners, but this season he’s designed pieces which are seriously up my street.
He studied at the London College of Printing, and had stints working as a stylist and a fashion editor on magazines before becoming a designer. Perhaps because of his varied background, he’s not afraid of mixing prints or messing with the colour wheel, whilst statement florals and in-your-face texture mash ups are part of his DNA. Granted he still has the ‘quirky’ card playing throughout this particular collection, but he’s dialled down the kookiness just enough to allow us more sensible dressers to indulge in his fun.
If you’re finding all this color and texture a tad scary, but are still keen to road test some of his work – why not dip into the collection through some of his accessories.
