How to dress for mild weather

how to dress

Is it just me, or is this winter in Blighty being weirdly mild? After years wrapping up in a gajillion layers whilst surviving icy winters in New York, it’s the oddest thing just popping on a jacket or mac to head out in mid-Jan. There’s no need for those thermals and thanks to the resurgence of over the knee boots, tights could also be ditched right now – here’s our edit on how to dress for the mild weather.

First up we’ve hopped on the trend of the cute-mini-skirt-meets-over-the-knee-boot which is slowly nudging sales of winter tights down as we figure out that if only a teeny bit of leg is exposed to the elements then you actually stay quite warm on a mild winters day. The combo in our edit is a Stella McCartney skirt (currently on sale at Net-a-Porterand 3.1 Phillip Lim boots… these ones are nice, but pricey – for more affordable OTK boots check out Stuart Weitzman 50/50 boots.

Add this season’s must-have neutral turtleneck sweater this one is Chloe (again on sale), some faux fur – this one is by Stella McCartney – but again tons of cheaper ones on sale everywhere right now including these at Net-a-Porter.

To accessorize try a neutral crossbody bag like this Marc by Marc Jacobs one. Sunnies in case the sun should dare to shine – these are Le Specs, and a Fedora – because your mum always says you lose 1/3 of your body heat through your head… this one is by Rag & Bone.

P.S. We’ve been nominated for the UK Blog Awards 2016 – would love your vote if you have a spare mo…
