Karen Millen: Modern dressing made easy

Karen Millen: a story

I’m heading out on a personal shop this morning, with a client who’s making the leap back into the office after being a stay at home mum these past few years. Having just come hot-foot from the Karen Millen Spring 14 press day, I was bursting to share all the delicious closet-clever looks heading into store in February. At this point my client rolled her eyes and bemoaned the last time she stepped foot into a Karen Millen store was pre-kids, when her body didn’t resemble a Jabba the Hutt fat suit.

Spoiler alert: Fret not Karen Millen fans – this story sounds like it’s going pear-shaped, but it turns out well in the end…

Battling against negative angst is never fun as a stylist, but my fashionista antennae were twitching, and telling me that my client and the Karen Millen girl are a match made in heaven.

Much like my client, the new Karen Millen girl has lived life, but still has that original sass she started out with. The new Atelier collections are designed for all shapes and sizes, and for women in any lifestage you might care to come up with. Think modern-day dressing with effortless ease. These days our gal is  ready to grasp what life throws at her, but this time around she’s at the steering wheel.

Quick as a flash, like any self-respecting Instagram-toting modern day Miss, I whipped out my iPhone and swiped through some of the looks for Spring.

karen millen Like the past few season’s the brand’s ethos is all about creating solution pieces for the modern wardrobe. They all work together and there’s something here for everyone.

That said, the classic attention to detail we’ve come to expect with this brand has not been side-stepped, and there are some awesome style notes included. Asymmetric kilts? Yes please!

My client took a peek and with her palate wet, our first port of call this morning is going to be…you guessed it…Karen Millen.
