Kitten Heels: The low-down
We are heading into party season and I don’t know about you, but the thought of teetering around town to various parties in vertiginous heels is not as appealing as it used to be. It might be old age and common sense creeping into my addled brain, but I have been taking particular notice of kitten heels of late.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not the kind of girl who switches sides on a whim… if we had to walk upstairs right now and count the number of ridiculously high heels in my closet, I might be up there with Imelda Marcos and Victoria Beckham. So it’s not like I’m advocating throwing away all those gorgeous sexy heels you’ve been quietly collecting all these years. Nope, I’m just suggesting that for the party season ahead, a girl can’t go far wrong with a cute kitten heel.

Kitten Heels: How to wear them…
Kitten heels are the perfect pairing for this season’s ladylike luxe looks. Whether you are long on pencil skirt possession, heavily invested in the midi or road-testing the odd asymmetric mini or two, throw on a pair of kitten heels and you can seriously pull a 24 hour shift in them. You can even work these babies with tapered or crop pants for the office, or dressed down with your boyfriend denim on the weekend.
When choosing your kitten heels, ensure you pick a pair which don’t pinch. Go up half a size to your norm if there is any rubbing at all, and yes, a touch of toe-cleavage is totally acceptable these days.
A number of our clients pooh-pooh the classic kitten heel, touting terms like ‘cankles’ and ‘frumpy’ around. But with oodles of choice in styles, colours and textures to choose from, I defy you to find the current cluster of offerings in store anything but dreamy. They are an eminently practical choice for long days in the office and even longer nights on the party circuits.
