Lace dress … summer staple.

If you’re headed out somewhere nice for lunch this upcoming Bank Holiday/Memorial Day weekend, which calls for a little smartening up on the sartorial elegance front, you won’t go far wrong with a little lace dress. There’s something utterly summery about a lace dress which nails that middle style ground between day dress and dressy up dress.

This season lace dresses are available in all sorts of colours and styles, but I always favour a crisp white look – especially when you’re about to hit that classic ‘wearing white’ closet change over weekend which is of course Memorial Day.

Thanks to modern fabric innovations, lace these days has a stretch to it which allows the wearer that touch of confidence. Safe in the knowledge that no matter how many hot dogs you snarf or mimosas you neck, your cute lace dress will expand subtly along with your waistline as the day progresses.

Opting for a white lace dress means you can play to whichever colour palette you choose. I like the idea of pairing mine with neutrals and tans to boost that summer vibe. I also like the ladylike feel of a lace item so have worked that into this weekend’s look.
