Leather trim … the low down
If you haven’t quite embraced the leather trend which has been busy enticing us all winter, it’s not too late to dip your toe into the water by road testing a little leather trim. I’ve heard some of my girlfriends bemoaning the fact that they are beyond leather pants – too footballers wives, and wouldn’t contemplate a leather skirt – too vampy, but are still yearning to try out the trend.
Step forward the leather trim micro trend, which has gained some fans over the winter, and is set to burst into stores for spring in anything from pastel hues to simple monochromes.
Your leather trim can appear on a collar or cuff, a waistband or rib, or even as a panel detail piece (another hot spring trend) on your item of clothing.
Leather trim … how to work it
The beauty of the leather trim trend is that it works in almost any outfit choice you could care to imagine. It’s perfectly acceptable for the office on a blouse, jacket or sweater. Whilst it’s relaxed cool vibe lends itself equally well to your weekend wear.
For a night out opt for leather trim items in darker hues or metallics, to ensure you make the most of it’s edgy reputation. I love the pairing of leather with sweatshirt fabric, like on this Joseph one from Net-a-Porter, for it’s mashed up sense of funky meets fun.
