Louise Selby – behind the scenes.

Just before the Christmas rush I popped into the showroom of seriously talented wedding dress designer Louise Selby, for a peek at her new collection for spring brides.

A century or two ago Louise designed my wedding dress when I headed down the aisle, so it was lovely to see how her pieces had evolved, and which designs are making today’s brides quiver at the knees. There isn’t a meringue in site, it’s all about simple, clean cut lines and elegant draping. She uses swathes of silks, satins, organzas and lace, with intricate embroidery being key to many of her show-stopping dresses.

Her bright and airy showroom is located in Kew and is a hop skip and a jump from the Tube. She has a huge choice, and even though I’m not in the running to get married again, these gorgeous pieces did have me drooling and wondering whether they come in a navy or red….?

Louise Selby has been at the top of the bridal designer charts for a long time, so it’s no surprise that she took her place recently as part of the ‘Dream Dress Team’ in Brides Magazine.

Whilst looking over her designs, which are all named after flowers inspired by her proximity to Kew Gardens, it was easy to see how any bride-to-be would be super excited to be having Louise at her side. Her attention to detail, personal service and dedication to every process of the design journey is renowned, and as she talked me through each piece, it definitely had me wondering whether I should be renewing vows sometime soon just to get my hands on one of these delicious pieces.

This dress appeared in a recent Brides Magazine photo shoot…. loved the 60’s vibe and the sleeve detail.
