Masterpiece London 2015… amazing art, antiques and design.
Late last week we were lucky enough to get an invite to the preview night of the Masterpiece Fair at The Royal Hospital Chelsea. On arrival we found we were at the wrong entrance so hopped on a nifty golf cart which whisked us to the correct one. See the sense of relief on Natascha’s face when she realized she doesn’t have to schlepp across miles of gardens to get to our start point.
Masterpiece London is a gathering of all things breathtaking in the art, antiques and design world. We were there ostensibly to seek out the work of brilliant watercolour artist Alexander Creswell who has taken to hanging his super-sized pieces in the coolest glass framework bringing them smack bang into the here and now. These babies could sit equally well in a loft space in Shoreditch or the Lower East Side or a townhouse in south-west London or a country pad in the Cotswolds.
The artist Alexander Creswell talking with Sol Campbell and his lovely wife Fiona Barratt.
We took a seat to admire Creswell’s new ceiling painting… amazing! You could actually lean back and muse over it for hours.
It was then time to peek at some of the other beautiful offerings… never too far away from a glass of fizz…obvs!
Before the need for some sustenance got too much and we headed for pop-up restaurant Scotts for supper.
Masterpiece London 2015 runs until July 1st and is definitely worth a visit. Find out more about it here.
