If there’s one thing Matthew Williamson is not afraid of it’s colour. He’s also not averse to piles of embellishment and the odd eye catching print, all of which have pervaded his collections over the past 15 years.
For Spring 14 things are switching up a notch though. Yes, you will still see a few beautiful boho meets glam diaphanous gowns, but this time around the collection is also offering more every day wear for the working girl, and evening looks for a night out on the town rather than a vacation on the Amalfi coast.
Although the Matthew Williamson girl still oozes insouciant allure, she’s moved on from just swanning around on a yacht. Like the rest of us she’s grown up, and realized there’s more to be done in a day. Whether it’s heading to the office or juggling your busy family schedule, a girl needs the right wardrobe to go with it… still with the Williamson attention to detail and style though obvs!
The great thing about a Press Day is that you can see all the detail up close and personal. So when I popped into his event last week, I made a bee-line to see if his signature embellished vibe still remained, and you know what? It didn’t disappoint.
With the added bonus of handbags and statement necklaces in his collection, Williamson’s new direction is definitely heading my kind of way.
