Mod Fam Food – party dips cheat sheet.
You know those kind of days when you have the best intentions to make something from first principles, but then real life kicks in, and you find that actually you don’t have time after sorting the family gift lists. There’s all that whipping the house into festive shape to be done, before hoards of family arrive. Not to mention figuring out how you’re going to jam all that food you’ve just ordered from Waitrose into your small complaining fridge freezer… Well that’s the kind of time when a little Yuletide cheating is absolutely and most definitely called for.
Follow along as we show you how to impress with a few cheat sheet guides. Add a cocktail or 3 and all is sorted.
Paprika Houmous
You will need…
230g tub Houmous
200g (1/2 tin) chick peas, slightly crushed in a pestle and mortar
Drizzle of olive oil
½ tsp paprika
Serves 4
Here’s what to do…

- Empty the houmous into a shallow serving bowl, top with the crushed chick peas, sprinkle with the paprika, and drizzle with olive oil.

Cool Tzatziki
You will need….
200g tub Tzatziki
¼ cucumber, sliced with a cheese slicer and cut into fine strips
Tsp fresh mint
Freshly ground black pepper
Serves 4
Here’s what to do…
- Empty the Tzatziki into a shallow serving bowl , top with the cucumber strips and and sprinkle with fresh mint and freshly black ground pepper.
Edamame and Pea dip
You will need…..
200g tub Edamame and Pea dip
55g prepared pomegranate seeds
Freshly ground black pepper
Serves 4
Here’s what to do….
1.Simply empty the dip into a serving bowl, top with the pomegranate seeds and freshly ground black pepper.
Tomato salsa
You will need….
200g tub fresh tomato salsa
Vine of sweet mini tomatoes, chopped into 4
1 tbs chopped basil
Here’s what to do
- Empty into dish, stir in the chopped tomatoes and basil.

Tips…
These dips can be served with a variety of crudities…peppers, cucumber, celery sticks and carrots.
Warm plain and wholemeal flatbreads in the oven and cut or tear to serve
Lightly toast thin slices of French bread and rub with garlic.
Wrap ½ slice Prosciutto di parma (cut lengthways) around Torinesi bread sticks (the thin ones)

Champagne glasse LSA International.
Bellini
Simply pour about a tbs of White peach juice (funkinpro white peach juice) into a champagne glass and top with chilled Prosseco.
Gin Fizz
2 measures of gin, to ½ measure Elderflower cordial. Top with crushed ice, cold tonic water and 2 thin slices of cucumber.
Mojito Madness
Mix 2 measures of rum with juice of half a lemon, tbs ripped mint leaves, 2 tsp caster sugar or 1 measure of sugar syrup. Add crushed ice and top with chilled soda water.
