Monochrome … Wednesday’s wish list

Monochrome … what’s the deal?

Monocrhome is one of those great trends which just keeps on giving. We’ve seen a winter packed with simple 90’s silhouettes, which are working on through to spring for an easy on the eye, no frills look. This look works a treat when worn in monochrome separates, giving it a modern clean edge for the new season.

What’s not to love about this colour combination? Not only does it flatter almost everyone on the planet, you can also use the two neutral hues to flatter your body shape with a little clever styling. Worried about a larger lower half than upper half? No problem, wear black on the bottom half and counteract with white on the top. If you have the converse problem simply switch the colour choice for an equally pleasing effect.

Monochrome … a few simple style rules

If you’re feeling a bit punchy about your monochrome look you can try some of the fab geometric prints for spring.

As with any print there are a couple of style rules to adhere to in order to make this look a winner. If you are on the more statuesque side you can pull off larger prints and stripes, but beware if you are on the short side… keep your patterns small and in proportion to your height to avoid being drowned out.

This weekend marks one of the last few sales days in stores, so if you are shopping in store or online, keep your eyes peeled for those last minute bargains in monochrome, which will sort your style out well into the spring.
